After Bungie put a date to Marathon's reveal earlier this week, the shooter community got absolutely crazy. It's fair to say the excitement is above the clouds, as this is Bungie's first brand-new IP in over a decade.
Finally, we know when Marathon will be a reality: Bungie has revealed that Marathon will be released on September 23, 2025.
Marathon is a sci-fi team-based PvP extraction shooter. It has been developed by the creators of Destiny and Halo, so expect something big.
Don't worry, Marathon isn't about... running. However, you will be controlling a Runners. Here's what Bungie has said about Marathon's story:
Set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV, Marathon will see players inhabit the bodies of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries who have been designed to survive the planet’s harsh environments. While exploring the lost colony that once inhabited the surface, players will search for valuable loot including new weapons and gear.
