Crates are no longer in the game
According to a major update released somewhere between 2017 and 2018, crates were completely removed from Battlefront 2. So as of now, you can't buy, unlock, or earn crates anymore.
This was the part of EA and DICE's rework of the progression system, as crates received major and widespread criticism for encouraging "pay-to-win" behavior.
However, if you are still seeing a great icon menu tab in your game, it may be just UI left behind and doesn't serve any purpose.
How to get emotes, skins, and star cards now?
All cosmetic items like emotes and appearances and gameplay upgrades like star cards are purchased directly rather than through crates.
- Navigate to the "Collection" tab from the main menu.
- Select your favorite hero, class, or reinforcement.
- Use credits or crystals to buy emotes, voice lines, and skins.
- Crafting pieces can be used to upgrade Star Cards that have been won through challenges or milestones.
Earning credits and crafting parts
Daily Login: You can earn a few credits by simply logging in, but you'll no longer receive crates.
Complete milestones and challenges: These often reward credits and crafting parts.
Arcade: You can win up to 1500 credits per day by completing five arcade matches.
Multiplayer matches: While this may be slower, multiplayer matches may still earn you around 100-250 credits per game depending on your performance.
