To celebrate a year since the release of the game's closed alpha, Marvel Rivals is running a new event called Galacta´s Gift. The event features a list of rewards players can obtain simply by playing Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI matches.

Even though this might seem a simple event, one of the items among the rewards is making players unhappy, especially those who are avid competitive players.

The rewards track for this event has a new item called Chrono Shield Card, and according to its description, players can activate it to prevent point loss after a loss in a Competitive match. Players can earn up to eight of these cards, four as the second reward and the other four as the fourth reward in the track.

It's unclear if NetEase plans to sell these items in the future, however, the game's UI indicates that accounts can hold up to 20 of these. This might be a hint that the developers are planning to introduce other methods to obtain them.

Many community members and prominent content creators like Eskay, Flats, and Bogur have started to share their concerns about their impact on the game's competitive integrity.

We will have to wait and see if NetEase follows through with their original plan of bringing these Chrono Shield Cards into the game after the first wave of responses.
