The Chrono Shield Cards are a new item in Marvel Rivals that prevent point loss after a defeat in a Competitive match. Basically a way to not lose SR even after getting losses.
Naturally, this has sparked controversy among the community as many feel it will make the game pay-to-win, and will ruin any sort of competitive integrity in the Ranked ladder.

How to get Chrono Shield Cards
The Chrono Shield Cards will be introduced to Marvel Rivals with the Galacta's Gift event, which is scheduled to begin on May 15th. Once the event is live, players will only need to play matches in Quick Play, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI to earn these items.
The event's free reward track offers a total of 8 Chrono Shield Cards to unlock. The first four cards are the second reward and the other four are the fourth reward in the track, as shown below.
The game's X account stated that this new item won't be for sale in the shop. Instead, the item can only be obtained through event rewards, meaning players will have to grind future events to get them.
All Chrono Shield Cards in your account will be removed at the end of each season, meaning you need to make sure to use them before that happens, or else you won't get another chance. On top of that, both Chrono Shield Tokens and Chrono Shield Cards are only usable for Gold rank or below.
