Rainbow Six Siege's meta is pretty well established; and, at the end of the day, that means matches can end up feeling stale.
Since the release of Operation System Override, the attacking meta has spun around Dokkaebi, Ace, Solid Snake, and other operators such as Ash, Twitch, Nomad, or, of course, shields. Meanwhile, although the defensive meta is a bit more flexible, Azami, Thorn, Aruni, Mute, and Mira completely dominate matches.
With players so fixated on those names, they tend to ignore some operators that can do even a better job. As people don't pay as much attention to them, we firmly believe these are underrated operators.
We have chosen three for each side, attack and defense. Let's have a look at them:
Underrated Rainbow Six Siege attackers
We believe Striker, Flores, and Zero are three of the most underrated attackers in Rainbow Six Siege. Here's why you should play them more!
Striker
Striker may have no operator ability. However, he compensates this by having access to all gadgets in the game. Therefore, players can choose to bring gadget combinations to break through the defenders' lineup easily. Striker's most popular gadget combination is the Impact EMP plus the Hard Breach Charge combination, which is extremely powerful considering that most Ranked players tend to ban hard breachers.
If that's not what you want to bring to the battlefield, Striker can also combine Fragmentation Grenades with his Impact EMPs. This combination can be very valuable when trying to take, for instance, Clubhouse's Garage. The possibilities are endless!
Additionally, Striker has access to multiple types of weapons, including the M4 Assault Rifle, the M249 LMG, and the SR-25 DMR. Players usually combine one of them with his ITA12S.
Plain and simple, Striker is one of Rainbow Six Siege's most versatile players. If you're a SoloQ player, you may want to play him more often!
Flores
Flores is another versatile option; however, unlike Striker, he actually has an operator gadget: the RCE-Ratero Charge.
The Ratero drones are extremely valuable as they don't only gather information but also explode. Therefore, these can be used to destroy bulletproof devices such as bulletproof shields, bulletproof cameras, or Maestro Cameras. Logically, they can also be used to play vertically, as well as to destroy other gadgets. These are very useful to play against lineups which are surrounded by Jäger's ADSs or Wamai's disks as these can't block Flores' drones.
Flores has got four Ratero drones as well as two standard drones, meaning he can gather a lot of information while being alive. He also has access to multiple types of weapons, including Ying's T-95 LSW. For some reason, however, players aren't fascinated by the Argentinian operator!
Zero
Zero is another operator to have in mind. Although is weapon options aren't the best, he's a great operator thanks to his Argus Launcher. He can get plenty of information with his cameras, which can also be used to destroy utility.
Underrated Rainbow Six Siege defenders
We believe Mozzie, Echo, and Frost are three of the most underrated defenders in Rainbow Six Siege. Here's why you should play them more!
Mozzie
When we think of Rainbow Six Siege roamers nowadays, we think of operators such as Vigil, Thorn, Ela, and even Solis, Denari, Skopós, Jäger, or Aruni. These have some really strong and reliable weapons that make them dangerous. Mozzie's weapon options aren't the best, especially considering his P-10 has a very limited magazine size.
However, Mozzie's Pest Launcher is always a nightmare for attackers. It makes it very hard to drone and, logically, hacking drones also means he can pair them to get easy C4 kills. He's a fun operator to play with, we recommend you give the Australian a chance!
Echo
Echo has gone through multiple changes recently but he's still a great operator. Now, the Japanese has got three Yokai Drones, which can be used not only to block planting attemps or to disorient attackers, but also to gather a ton of information.
Echo has also got a deployable shield and an SMG as a secondary option. He's a really strong anchor, but players usually bring other operators such as Smoke, Mute, or Mira for that role. Bulletproof cameras and Valkyrie can easily replace his Yokai drones. However, you should give him a try.
Frost
Last but not least, we have gone for Frost as an alternative to Kapkan, Thorn, or Lesion, who are the most played trap operators alongside Ela.
We accept that Frost's traps are very situational and should be played on maps like Border or Chalet, which have plenty of windows where attackers must jump in the building. The Canadian excels there as her traps force the attackers to check the floor while jumping in the site, which gives defenders an advantage.
