Marvel Rivals’ Season 2.5 is here, and with it comes one of the meanest and most menacing machines in Marvel history, Ultron. As the newest Strategist to join the Marvel Rivals roster, he poses a serious threat to lobbies full of Duelists who forget to look up. With his blend of healing and damage capabilities, he’s shaping up to be a character that many players will enjoy.

Here’s a guide on how to effectively use Ultron in Marvel Rivals:

Understanding his kit

As of now, Ultron is considered an underpowered character. His healing output isn’t as impressive as some of the other Strategists, but in the hands of someone who understands his kit, he becomes a dangerous adversary.

Cycling through Ultron’s cooldowns allows you to provide your team with a near-constant stream of healing and damage.

His primary healing ability, Imperative: Patch, sends out a drone that heals allies in a wide area. His other abilities: Imperative: Firewall and Flight, can be tricky to master, but they’re essential for escaping firefights and staying mobile.

His Ultimate, Rage of Ultron, is a powerful damage-dealing ability that can wipe out squishy targets, while simultaneously healing allies caught in the blast radius.

Positioning Matters

Positioning is crucial when playing Ultron. As a flyer, his mobility has limits, and relying too heavily on Flight can be a costly mistake. Ultron shines brightest when the enemy team lacks hitscan characters like Hela or Punisher, allowing him to control the skies with both damage and healing.

However, if the enemy team does have hitscans, avoid hovering for too long. Staying close to the ground can spare you (and your head) from a quick death.

Team Up With an Iron Man

What many players forget is that Ultron is a utility Strategist, similar to Rocket Raccoon. His healing potential doesn’t match that of Luna Snow or Invisible Woman, but he makes up for it with a hybrid playstyle that blends the best of Duelists and Strategists.

Often, you can simply deploy your drone to heal an ally and then dive into the fray, melting enemies with your Encephalo Rays. Teaming up with Iron Man maximizes your presence all thanks to their team-up ability that empowers Ultron’s Encephalo Ray, turning it into a piercing laser capable of healing and damage.

Use Firewall During Teamfights and Dives

Ultron’s secondary ability, Imperative: Firewall, grants overhealth and additional healing to allies when activated. It’s designed as an anti-dive tool, most effective when your backline is under pressure from enemy assaults.

Triggering Firewall during dives can give your allies the extra survivability they need, making it harder for them to be eliminated quickly and helping to turn the tide of battle.

Always Target Stragglers

As a hybrid Duelist and Strategist, Ultron is a force to be reckoned with—especially if you’ve got solid aim. His Encephalo Ray dishes out serious damage and can two-shot Strategists or other squishies who aren’t paying attention.

When airborne, keep an eye out for isolated enemies. His Encephalo Rays have surprising range, comparable to Black Widow’s sniper rifle. Just spot that lone Loki or wandering Mantis, and you’ll be providing immense value to your team.

And that’s about it. Ultron might take some time to master, especially since his healing doesn’t quite match the current Strategist meta, but he’s a high-skill-ceiling character. In the right hands, and at higher elos, he can be downright dangerous.
