Epic Games has announced major changes to the Fortnite Crew subscription service. In addition to having the main game’s Battle Pass, members will also gain access to the LEGO, Music, and the newly announced OG pass. This means even more premium rewards for subscribers, giving them even more reasons to play the game.
Fans will be able to gain access to four battle passes starting December 1. The game’s blog post noted that these rewards will only be available for active accounts. Anyone who cancels their subscription can only gain these premium rewards up to its last day.
It is worth noting that players who cancel their Fortnite Crew subscription will still be able to keep whatever premium rewards they’ve kept. This fear is rational since services like PS Plus or Game Pass don’t let you keep “free” games from the membership. At the least, Fortnite players won’t have to worry too much about this.
This news confirms the rumors that Fortnite OG will get its own battle pass instead of running back the old battle passes from the original season. Whether this pass features old skins or not remains to be seen.
Unfortunately, due to the Crew subscription becoming more valuable, Epic Games has also increased the price of the Battle Royal pass. This microtransaction is going from 950 V-Bucks to 1000 V-Bucks. While some players won’t mind the change, this is annoying for those who grind for the currency.
Overall, the changes made to Fortnite Crew seem to be a net positive. Paying $11.99 a month for the main game’s Battle Pass premium rewards was fine, but adding all these passes makes it a better deal. Now players are encouraged to play LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Festival in addition to the main game.
