Gentle Mates have signed the Spanish orgless mix Iberian Soul to enter the Counter-Strike 2 scene. Before going orgless, the roster had represented KOI, but the team was dropped in January 2025.
Since then, the Spanish community had pleaded other Spanish esports organizations like Team Heretics and GIANTX to invest in the roster. Unfortunately, none of them appeared to be interested, and the Spanish mix went orgless for eight months. Finally, Gentle Mates has been the organization that has decided to pick up the experienced lineup.
This is Gentle Mates' first-ever Counter-Strike 2 roster. The team is already diversifying their esports operations after the organization lost their VCT EMEA slot, which will likely end up with the French organization stepping away from Riot Games' shooter.
Recently, the Spanish mix qualified for the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025, a competition that will be held in Budapest, Hungary, with a prize pool of USD$500,000. Played between September 18 and September 21, the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025 will be Gentle Mates' first opportunity to grab a big chunk of money — with participating already granting the team with USD$10,000.
While Budapest is the team's most ambitious goal as of now, the lineup's first appearance under Gentle Mates will be later today against Nemiga Gaming at the ESL Challenger League Season 50 Europe Cup 1. With the winner taking USD$12,000 and a spot in the ESL Challenger League Season 50, this is Gentle Mates' first opportunity to qualify for the ESL Pro League S23.
