With the Edge of Fate, Bungie introduced plenty of new exotic weapons and armor. One of them is the Third Iteration scout rifle. It's a Void weapon with some very unique mechanics and a Catalyst that makes it an even better scout.
How to get Third Iteration in Destiny 2
The Third Iteration scout rifle is a rewards pass item. It's available as an instant unlock if you purchase the pass (which comes included with The Edge of Fate expansion) or at level 70 of the free track.
There are no other ways of getting the weapon, so if you're enjoying the DLC, then getting it was no issue at all. On the other hand, if you're dipping your toes into the franchise and don't want to immediately spend money on an expansion, you'll have to grind for quite some time to get it.

Third Iteration has some fun perks as an exotic weapon. But first, let's break down the weapon stats:

Now, unto the perks:
- Amalgamation Rounds: Aiming down sights for a short period without firing compresses the spread into a single high-density projectile. Damaging a target with this shot marks them. This weapon deals additional damage to marked targets. Defeating a marked target or landing a precision final blow with an Amalgamation Round grants invisibility and truesight
- Tri-Planar Mass Driver: Fires a spread of Void energy projectiles. Aiming down sights narrows the spread
How to get the Third Iteration Catalyst
The Third Iteration Catalyst is available via the rewards pass. It's in tier 90. This is what it does:
- Aberrant Combustion: Precision final blows with Amalgamation Rounds cause the target to detonate into a weakening blast
