Team Falcons have taken down G2 Esports in the CS2 Esports World Cup 2025 after a comfortable Round of 16 performance including 13-9 and 13-7 wins on Ancient and Train, respectively.
Curiously enough, Team Falcons' best players in today's match were the former G2 Esports players Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, with 40 and 33 kills respectively. With some great individual performances, the two former samurai stole the show as the Team Falcons fans on the standings celebrated the win.
Team Falcons win against G2 Esports means that the samurai have been knocked out of the CS2 Esports World Cup 2025. Meanwhile, the green roster have qualified for the quarterfinals, where they will play against Virtus.pro or the IEM Cologne 2025 champions, MOUZ.
So far, the CS2 Esports World Cup 2025 has been full of upsets, as 3DMAX knocked out last year's champions Natus Vincere, while HEROIC eliminated the favorites, Team Spirit.
Today's victory also means that Team Falcons have now secured 200 EWC Points from the CS2 Esports World Cup, meaning they are 700 points ahead of Team Liquid in the EWC 2025 Club Championship standings. It also means that Team Vitality no longer stand a chance to win the competition. To go even further, Team Falcons could certify themselves as EWC 2025 Club Championship champions today if Team Liquid's Alan "Nephew" Sun is eliminated of the Street Fighter 6 EWC 2025.
