Although Valorant has over five years of history already, the truth is that, compared to other FPS, Riot Games' title doesn't have plenty of characters. This isn't necessarily bad, by any means; in fact it's arguably a good decision as it makes the overall experience less overwhelming.
However, slowly but steadily, Riot Games increase the number of playable agents in the game. With 28 playable characters and as we approach the end of Champions 2025, now is the perfect time to welcome a new Valorant agent. Fortunately, rumors and leaks are already all over social media and we finally know that the new Valorant agent will be a Senegalese Sentinel called Veto.
Keep on reading to know more about Valorant's new agent Veto:
Who is Veto?
Valorant's new agent is Veto. He is Senegalese and will be Valorant's 29th agent after the additions of Tejo and Waylay.
He will be the first Sentinel added to Valorant since Vyse was released in August 2024. He will also be the third agent from Africa, as Valorant's current only African agents are Cypher and Astra.
What do we know about Valorant's new agent Veto?
Veto will focus on neutralizing abilities thrown by the enemies. He will be the team's shield, blocking and countering the majority of the enemy's abilities.
Here's a look at the agent description of Veto, leaked by the popular Valorant leaker, ValorLeaks:
On October 5, right before the start of the Champions 2025 grand final, Riot Games revealed Veto to the world. It's fair to say Veto's presentation stole the show as players started to think how the Senegalese agent will fit the meta. Well, at this point, it's not about how he will fit the meta; it's about how he will break the meta.
What are Veto's abilities?
Veto will be an operator that cancels abilities thrown by the enemies. However, the Senegalese Sentinel can do more than that.
Here's a look at Veto's abilities:
Chokehold
Similar to Fade, Veto will be able to equip a fragment of his mutation to trap enemies in a specific place. When under the effects of Chokehold, players will be deafened and decayed. However, enemies will be able to destroy the trap before it's triggered.
Veto will have to spend 200 credits to unlock Chokehold.
Crosscut
Crosscut will allow Veto to place a vortex. He will be able to use it to teleport to specific places. To do so, he must point at the vortex he wants to trigger, and he will instantly teleport there. Veto will be able to claim the vortex back during preparation phase but not during action phase.
To unlock Crosscut, Veto players will have to spend 200 credits per portal, making it a total of 400 credits to unlock both.
Interceptor
Veto's Interceptor will allow the Senegalese agent to cancel any utility thrown by the enemies. This effect will only occur if the mine is active. Enemies will be able to destroy the interceptor, so Veto players must be intelligent and place it on positions that are difficult to locate.
This is Veto's main ability so he won't have to use credits to unlock it.
Evolution
Veto's ultimate is called Evolution. This ability allows Veto to fully mutate, which will give him a combat stim, regeneration, and will make him immune to all forms of debuffs. This immunity will last for the whole round.
Veto's ultimate Evolution will be unlockable after players gather seven ultimate points. This is pretty standard compared to other ultimates, put probably quite low considering its potential.
When will Valorant release Veto?
Veto's release date hasn't been made official yet. However, we expect Valorant to release Veto alongside Patch 11.08, which is expected to be released on October 14 or October 15, depending on the region.
The exact release date of Veto will be revealed before the Champions 2025 grand finals. However, we will update this article as soon as more information about Veto is leaked.
